Ripple’s Strategic Dominance in Brazil’s Crypto Frontier
Brazil has solidified its position as the primary hub for Ripple’s global operations, recently ranking first in grassroots crypto adoption according to Chainalysis. By integrating deeply with the nation’s financial infrastructure, Ripple is transforming the country into a live laboratory for institutional blockchain applications. This expansion spans across cross-border liquidity, custody services, and the sophisticated tokenization of real-world assets.
Leading the Charge in Real-World Asset Tokenization
A significant portion of Ripple’s global impact is now concentrated within Brazilian borders. Approximately $2.7 billion—roughly 40%—of the tokenized real-world assets reported on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) are located in Brazil. A landmark collaboration with CSD BR, a regulated financial market infrastructure operator, exemplifies this momentum. The first phase of this partnership focuses on mirroring ownership records for BTG Pactual investment fund shares on the XRPL. This project provides a secure, blockchain-based layer for securities registration while ensuring that CSD BR remains the official record for deposit and settlement.
Bridging Traditional Finance and Blockchain Infrastructure
Ripple’s growth in Brazil extends beyond asset tracking to encompass a comprehensive suite of institutional services. Since opening its local office in 2019, the company has established critical payment corridors with partners like Travelex Bank and Mercado Bitcoin. The strategy has now evolved to include custody, prime brokerage, and the support of its dollar stablecoin, RLUSD, on major local platforms. By seeking a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license, Ripple is embedding itself into the fabric of the Brazilian economy. This multi-layered approach allows the company to move money for corporate treasuries while simultaneously building the infrastructure for the next generation of digital securities.
