Revolutionizing US Payments: Quant to Power New Tokenized Deposit Network
The Clearing House, a cornerstone of the U.S. financial infrastructure, has officially selected Quant to lead the technological integration of its groundbreaking "On-Chain Money Initiative." This partnership marks a significant leap toward the institutional adoption of blockchain, aiming to merge traditional banking reliability with the efficiency of programmable digital assets.
Modernizing the Financial Rails
The Clearing House operates the core plumbing of the American financial system, handling over $2 trillion in daily transactions via wire transfers, ACH, and real-time payments. By integrating Quant’s technology, the new network will allow financial institutions to clear and settle tokenized deposits while remaining seamlessly connected to existing fiat rails like RTP and CHIPS. Unlike public stablecoins, these tokenized deposits represent a direct liability of the issuing bank, ensuring that the fundamental banking relationship remains intact while adding the benefits of blockchain recording and transparency.
A Vision for Programmable Banking
This initiative is designed to support high-level financial operations, including corporate treasury management, liquidity optimization, and automated digital-asset settlement. A standout feature of the proposed network is the ability to program payments to execute automatically once specific, pre-agreed conditions are met. While currently under development, the project represents a shift from isolated bank experiments to a shared infrastructure. Participating institutions are expected to gain access to the network in the first half of 2027, signaling a future where traditional payment stacks and on-chain money operate as a single, unified system.
