A Resurgence in Institutional Crypto: US ETFs Capture $3 Billion in Weekly Inflows
The US cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) market has experienced a massive wave of capital, recording more than $3 billion in net inflows between Monday and Thursday. While Bitcoin remains the primary driver of this trend, there is a clear expansion of interest toward Ethereum and smaller altcoin products like Solana, XRP, and Zcash. This surge reflects a broader market recovery and a significant shift in institutional sentiment as investors diversify their digital asset portfolios beyond the market leader.
Bitcoin and Ethereum Command the Market
Bitcoin ETFs dominated the week with $2.25 billion in total inflows, highlighted by a standout $999 million intake on Monday alone. This record-breaking demand coincides with a recovery in Bitcoin's price toward the mid-$80,000 range, supported by both ETF buyers and simultaneous corporate treasury acquisitions. Ethereum has emerged as the strongest secondary player, securing over $602 million in inflows across four consecutive positive trading sessions. Despite Ethereum's price performance lagging behind some smaller assets, it remains the top choice for investors looking beyond Bitcoin, accounting for nearly 94% of the combined weekly inflows when paired with Bitcoin.
The Growing Appeal of Altcoin Diversification
Institutional appetite is no longer limited to the "Big Two," as evidenced by the $190 million flowing into Solana, XRP, and Zcash products. Solana led the altcoin pack with over $101 million in new capital, while XRP and the recently launched Zcash fund also saw steady, positive gains. This diversification comes as market indicators suggest a potential "altcoin season," with many non-Bitcoin pairs outperforming Bitcoin's percentage gains during the latest rally. As aggregate ETF investor break-even levels settle near $86,000, continued demand across all asset classes will be crucial to sustaining the current market momentum.
