New York Life Ventures Onchain: High-Yield Bond Strategy Hits the Blockchain
New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM) has announced a landmark move into decentralized finance, partnering with Centrifuge to bring its high-yield corporate bond strategy to the Avalanche blockchain. This initiative signals a significant shift from tokenizing basic cash equivalents to bringing sophisticated, actively managed credit portfolios onto public blockchain rails.
A Digital Leap for Fixed-Income Assets
NYLIM, a global financial powerhouse managing over $300 billion in assets, is leveraging Centrifuge’s tokenization infrastructure to move its traditional high-yield bond strategy onchain. By utilizing the Avalanche network as a settlement and ownership layer, the firm aims to simplify the operational movement between liquidity and fund interests. The product will utilize USDC for all subscriptions and redemptions, providing a seamless digital-dollar mechanism that allows the fund to operate efficiently outside of traditional financial settlement windows.
Institutional Precision and Market Evolution
Despite the move to a public blockchain, the product remains exclusive, with access strictly restricted to qualified institutional buyers rather than the general public. This development is a pivot from the recent trend of tokenized U.S. Treasuries, introducing a different risk and return profile to the blockchain-based financial ecosystem. Through this partnership, NYLIM and Centrifuge are testing how established, conventional investment products can be issued and serviced through the growing infrastructure of the decentralized web.
