Bitcoin at a Crossroads: On-Chain Demand Faces a Critical Test

Bitcoin is currently navigating a pivotal technical junction as key demand indicators show signs of cooling for the first time in nearly a month. Despite price resilience near the $76,500 mark, a contraction in Bitcoin’s Realized Cap and consecutive outflows from U.S. spot ETFs suggest that the aggressive on-chain momentum seen in recent weeks may be stalling.

Signs of Stagnating Demand

The market recently witnessed a notable shift in investor behavior as Bitcoin’s Realized Cap—a metric estimating the aggregate cost basis of all coins—declined after 27 consecutive days of growth. This contraction indicates that coins are being repriced lower on-chain, reflecting a pause in the inflow of new capital. Compounding this trend, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded significant net outflows totaling approximately $746.3 million over a two-day period. While these outflows do not necessarily equate to a mass exit of cash from the network, they highlight a temporary weakening in institutional and retail demand.

Critical Thresholds and the Path to Recovery

According to Glassnode’s framework, Bitcoin is currently locked in a "recovery test" centered around the $76,700 True Market Mean. To restore the previous bullish range and invalidate concerns regarding demand contraction, Bitcoin needs to secure two consecutive daily closes above this $76,700 threshold alongside a return to Realized Cap growth. Failure to reclaim this level could shift the market's focus toward lower support zones. The next major line of defense sits at approximately $71,300, representing the average acquisition price for short-term holders. If that level fails to hold, analysts point to a much heavier on-chain support zone established between $62,000 and $65,000. For now, the market remains in a state of observation, waiting to see if Bitcoin can muster the strength to break upward or if it will be forced to lean on deeper support levels to find its footing.
