Bitcoin Leads a Massive Billion-Dollar Surge in Crypto ETP Inflows
Between August 17 and August 19, the United States cryptocurrency exchange-traded product (ETP) market witnessed a significant capital resurgence, drawing in a total of $1.297 billion. This rebound was heavily weighted toward Bitcoin, which commanded over 77% of the total inflows, signaling a concentrated return of investor confidence in the world’s largest digital asset.
Bitcoin’s Commanding Market Dominance
Bitcoin ETPs were the primary engine of this recovery, securing $1.004 billion over the three-session period. Daily inflows for Bitcoin averaged approximately $334.7 million, a figure that is more than four times the historical daily average. BlackRock’s IBIT led the charge with $588.5 million in contributions, while Fidelity’s FBTC and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB also provided substantial support. These numbers highlight a robust institutional appetite that remains focused on Bitcoin as the primary gateway for crypto exposure.
Divergent Trends in Ethereum and Solana
Ethereum also participated in the market upswing, attracting $289.1 million in total inflows across the same window. Its daily average of $96.4 million represented a sharp acceleration, reaching over four times its historical pace, with BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) acting as the main driver. In contrast, Solana ETPs saw a much more muted performance, recording only $4.1 million in total inflows. While Bitcoin and Ethereum both experienced significant momentum shifts, Solana’s activity remained well below its historical averages, illustrating a selective approach by investors during this market rebound.
