PayPal's new "PayPal Links" service enables users to create a unique, one-time personalized link that can be shared instantly across text messages, direct messages, or emails to send or request funds. Designed for speed and simplicity, this feature is initially rolling out to PayPal's 278 million U.S. customers before expanding globally to markets like the United Kingdom and Italy. Crucially, PayPal has also addressed a common concern by confirming that friends-and-family transfers completed through these links or Venmo will not trigger 1099-K reporting requirements, ensuring gifts, reimbursements, and shared expenses remain free from unwanted tax forms.
Integrating Crypto into Everyday Transfers
Beyond traditional fiat transfers, PayPal is making a bold move into digital assets by planning to enable support for crypto transfers through the same innovative links. Users will soon be able to send Bitcoin, Ethereum, PYUSD (PayPal's stablecoin), and other digital assets with the same ease.
