SOS Limited Prepares for Major Capital Expansion Amid Shifting Crypto Strategy
SOS Limited is positioning itself for a massive financial pivot after shareholders approved a plan to expand the company’s authorized share pool by a staggering 100-fold. This move comes as the crypto-linked firm navigates a period of significant transition, marked by a sharp decrease in liquid cash and a strategic pause in its direct mining operations. The approved measures provide the company with the necessary flexibility to raise new equity as it manages a balance sheet now dominated by digital assets.
A Transformation of the Balance Sheet
The company's latest audited financials reveal a dramatic shift in its liquidity position. Cash reserves plummeted from $228.1 million at the end of 2024 to just $3.2 million by the end of 2025. While cash is low, the firm remains heavily invested in the crypto market, reporting over $79 million held in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Operational changes have also impacted the bottom line, including a $97.3 million net loss and a total halt in direct mining revenue. To compensate, the company has pivoted toward hosting services, which generated $7.5 million in the same period.
Expanding the Path for Future Financing
To address these financial hurdles, shareholders authorized an increase in share capital from 70 million to 7 billion shares. This includes the creation of nearly 6 billion new Class A shares and 990 million Class B shares. This enlarged pool is designed to support upcoming corporate actions, including potential acquisitions and new funding rounds. The board also received the green light to implement share consolidations, with a potential ratio as high as 1-for-20. While these steps create the capacity for significant dilution, the actual impact will depend on how the board utilizes this newfound authority in the coming years.
