The Final Countdown: Powerloom Network Announces Permanent Shutdown
The decentralized data infrastructure project Powerloom is set to permanently cease operations, with its network scheduled to go offline at 6:00 AM UTC on July 21, 2026. This final shutdown marks the conclusion of a wind-down period, leaving users with a critical, dwindling window to migrate their remaining assets to the Ethereum mainnet or risk losing access to them forever.
Critical Deadlines and Asset Recovery
As the shutdown deadline approaches, the project has issued a final reminder that the Arbitrum-based bridge remains the only viable exit path for users holding liquid balances on the network. While the bridge is currently active, it will stop functioning the moment the Powerloom chain stops producing blocks, as it requires an operational source chain to facilitate transfers. It is important to note that many administrative features—including reward claims, unstaking, and node burns—were already deactivated on July 16. Consequently, any funds still tied to those workflows are now considered unrecoverable, leaving only those with transferable on-chain balances able to take action.
The End of a Decentralized Vision
The decision to shutter the network follows a candid assessment by Powerloom’s founders, who cited a lack of a sustainable operating model and insufficient ecosystem demand as the primary drivers for the closure. Despite the network's history of developing decentralized sequencer-validators and data markets, the leadership concluded that the project could no longer be supported over the long term. However, the shutdown does not affect all aspects of the ecosystem; POWER tokens already held on the Ethereum network as ERC-20 assets reside on an immutable contract and will remain fully accessible. For all other assets still residing on the Powerloom chain, the July 21 cutoff represents a hard finish to the project’s lifecycle.
