Redefining the Legal Register
The hallmark of the BAGEY project is its commitment to native issuance within a UK-regulated OEIC structure. By involving major institutional players such as BNY for wallet infrastructure and NatWest for depositary services, Baillie Gifford ensures that the on-chain record is not just a secondary mirror but a legally decisive register of who owns what. This transition shifts the "operational center of gravity" to the blockchain, allowing the fund administrator, custodian, and investor to coordinate around a shared ledger rather than relying on private databases that require manual reconciliation.
