The cryptocurrency market has recently entered a period of heightened volatility, marked by a massive wave of liquidations and a clear split in how Bitcoin and Ethereum are being moved by major players. Leveraged Wipeouts and Bitcoin’s Distribution

The return of volatility triggered roughly $186 million in forced liquidations over a single 24-hour period, catching both long and short traders off-guard. Bitcoin led this market-wide flush, accounting for nearly $35 million of the total losses. This instability is being exacerbated by a significant shift in Bitcoin’s supply dynamics, as "whales" have offloaded more than 70,000 BTC over the past month. While this massive distribution has increased available supply, the market has found a vital counterweight through U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs. Ethereum’s Stealth Supply Squeeze

In a sharp contrast to Bitcoin’s rising exchange supply, Ethereum is experiencing a period of intense inventory tightening. While Bitcoin whales were distributing their holdings, nearly 500,000 ETH—valued at approximately $800 million—were withdrawn from trading platforms in just one week. This shift brought exchange balances down to 15 million ETH, significantly reducing the amount of asset immediately available for sale. This divergence suggests that while Bitcoin is currently absorbing visible selling pressure, Ethereum’s market structure is tightening beneath the surface. Ultimately, the crypto market remains in a delicate state of equilibrium, caught between the threat of macro uncertainty and the steady demand from institutional buyers.
