The AI Discovery and the Theoretical Breach

The vulnerability was unearthed by security researcher Taylor Hornby during a protocol audit assisted by the Anthropic Claude Opus 4.8 AI model. The flaw resided in Zcash’s Orchard zero-knowledge proof circuit, creating a double-spending risk that had persisted since the pool's activation in May 2022.
