Bitcoin Slumps Below $73,000 as Technical Indicators Signal Further Downside

Bitcoin has entered a fresh bearish phase after failing to sustain its momentum above the $75,000 psychological threshold. The leading cryptocurrency is currently struggling to consolidate its losses as it trades below the $74,000 mark and its 100-hourly simple moving average, leaving investors wary of a deeper correction toward the $70,000 support zone.

Bears Take Control as Key Supports Break

The recent downward move saw Bitcoin break through several critical support levels, including the $74,200 zone. After reaching a swing high of nearly $77,810, the price took a sharp turn, eventually dipping below the $73,000 level to form a local low at $72,470. Technical analysis shows the pair is now struggling to clear the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the recent decline. A bearish trend line has also solidified on the hourly charts, presenting a significant hurdle for any immediate recovery attempts.

Critical Resistance and Downside Risks

For a potential reversal to occur, bulls must first reclaim the immediate resistance at $73,800 and the more formidable $74,500 zone. A decisive close above $74,500 could pave the way for a relief rally toward $75,500 or even $76,200. However, the current technical outlook remains grim; the Hourly MACD is gaining pace in the bearish zone, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is languishing below the 50 mark, suggesting that sellers still hold the upper hand.

The Path to $70,000

If Bitcoin fails to clear the $74,500 resistance, the market may brace for another leg down. Immediate support is found near $72,500, followed by a more significant floor at $72,000. Should these levels fail to hold, analysts warn of a potential slide toward $71,200 and eventually the major $70,000 support level. A break below $70,000 would represent a significant technical breakdown, potentially making it difficult for the asset to recover its bullish posture in the near term.
