Render (Render Network) is a decentralized network that connects GPU owners with clients needing 3D rendering and AI-compute power, coordinated by the RENDER token on Solana (SPL token). The token's legacy pre-migration name and ticker was "Render Token" (RNDR), issued as an Ethereum ERC-20 before migrating to Solana in November 2023.
Render Network was originally conceived by OTOY in 2009 and launched publicly on April 27, 2020, matching idle GPU capacity from node operators to rendering and AI-compute jobs.
RENDER's core differentiator is its Burn-Mint-Equilibrium (BME) model, which ties token demand to paid GPU-compute usage rather than speculative activity alone. Rendering-job payments, quoted in fiat, are converted to RENDER and burned on completion, directly linking network usage to token economics.
As of 2026-08-30, the network recorded roughly 1,012 monthly active addresses and 1,494 transactions over the prior 30 days, with a Render Network Foundation treasury of about $20.65 million.
RENDER functions as both a utility and governance token, used to pay for GPU compute and to vote on network proposals. Node operators are paid in RENDER for supplying GPU compute for rendering and AI-compute jobs.
Clients pay for these jobs by converting fiat-quoted prices into RENDER, which is then burned on completion. Tokenholders also vote on-chain, via Nation.io using Solana-compatible wallets, on Render Network Proposals (RNPs) that govern protocol upgrades and funding.
RENDER has a maximum supply of 531,024,271 tokens, of which 518,772,101 (about 97.7%) are in circulation as of 2026-08-31.
Current net supply inflation is low, keeping emission close to disinflationary.
RNDR's public token sale ran October 5–12, 2017 on Ethereum, raising 4,044.28 ETH toward a combined roughly $17.24 million from public and private 2017 sales.
RENDER is a native SPL token on Solana, which secures the network using a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism combined with Proof of History for transaction ordering. The token migrated from an Ethereum ERC-20 (RNDR) to Solana in November 2023 under community-approved proposal RNP-002, "Layer 1 Network Expansion," moving to a faster, lower-fee settlement layer.
Render Network does not operate its own blockchain or independent validator set; it relies entirely on Solana's base-layer consensus and settlement for transaction finality.
Render Network was founded by Jules Urbach, who is also founder and CEO of OTOY, Inc., a Los Angeles-based cloud graphics and rendering software company. Urbach has more than 25 years of experience in computer graphics, streaming, and 3D rendering.
Named advisors include Ari Emmanuel (Co-Founder/Co-CEO, WME), digital artist Mike Winkelmann ("Beeple"), and Brendan Eich (founder/CEO of Brave Software and creator of the Basic Attention Token).
The Render Network Foundation, a Cayman Islands-domiciled non-profit spun out of OTOY, Inc. in November 2023, maintains and develops Render Network today. It sets strategic priorities, issues grants, and facilitates governance through the Render Network Proposal (RNP) system.
OTOY, Inc., the cloud-graphics company founded by Jules Urbach, remains an active ecosystem and technology partner — its OTOY Studio AI content-generation platform added RENDER as a supported payment method in 2026 — but is now organizationally distinct from the governing Foundation.
Render Network is governed through the Render Network Proposal (RNP) system, with tokenholders voting on-chain via Nation.io using Solana-compatible wallets. This replaced earlier Ethereum-based Snapshot voting; the chain migration itself was approved as RNP-002.
The RNP process handles both protocol upgrades and funding initiatives, and community debate has included whether to make node-operator emission rewards more predictable versus preserving flexibility in the Burn-Mint-Equilibrium model. The Render Network Foundation issues grants and sets strategic priorities alongside this proposal process.
Recent Render-related development has centered on ecosystem integrations rather than new protocol releases. Coinbase added support for RENDER, reported July 10, 2026, expanding retail access and liquidity for the token.
OTOY merged its Canvas and OTOY Studio products into a single AI content-generation platform — spanning image, video, voice, 3D, and world generation across more than 30 models — and added RENDER as a supported payment method, reported around July 27, 2026. OTOY Studio further added "Seedance 2.5" video generation around August 8, 2026.
Render Network holds a CertiK Skynet Score of 86.62 ("AA" rating), though CertiK did not itself perform an audit of the project.
